MLB cracks the whip on Devils prospect

Major League baseball has suspended Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfield prospect Josh Hamilton for the complete 2004 baseball season for violating baseball's drug policy. This would have to have been the second time that Hamilton would have tested positive for drug abuse, though I am not sure what drugs he was accused of taking. This suspension doesn't seem related to steroids, more or so with hard drugs like cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, etc. Hamilton was drafted in the first round in 1999 and signed a pro-contract that included a $4 million signing bonus.

Reggie Jackson speaks out

As one can imagine, Reggie Jackson is a little pissed off these days. The Hall of Fame baseball player has had it with the nonchalant attitudes of current players, the league and players association towards the serious issue of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs in baseball. Recently he made some excellent comments on the blatant manipulation of baseball records, especially the all-time home runs. His disgust at the way juiced up athletes have made a mockery of baseball's history is something we need to pay more attention to.
