Ken Griffey Jr almost at 500 club
Ken Griffey Jr hit is 499th career homerun in the third inning of an afternoon game against Cliff Lee of the Cleveland Indians. In his very next at bat he almost got beaned by Lee who was ejected, and then went on to hit a deep drive to right field that came a couple of inches of clearing the fence. So Griffey Jr still sits at 499 in the career homerun list, but it is academic that he will surpass this milestone. What's even more interesting is looking back at his career and realizing that the last few injury plagued seasons in Cincinnati have really held him back. Had he continued on the clip when he was a Seattle Mariner, he would have eclipsed this mark a long time ago.
