Gagne's save streak ends at 84

LA Dodger closer Eric Gagne finally saw his consecutive saves streak end at a very impressive 84 saves. The streak broke earlier this week as Gagne was unable to secure a victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Still, he handily broke the previous record of 54 consective saves set in 1998-99 by Tom Gordon. I think its pretty safe to say that Gagne's streak is unlikely to be broken.

Holiday weekend features prime baseball rivalries

The long holiday weekend in the United States and Canada saw some of the best Major League rivalries as inter-league baseball continued. The Chicago Cubs vs the White Sox, New York Mets vs the Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays vs the Montreal Expos (but in Puerto Rico??), Tampa Bay Devil Rays vs Florida Marlins, Cleveland Indians vs Cincinnati Reds, LA Dodgers vs Anaheim Angles and Oakland A's vs San Francisco Giants. IMO a very good job of scheduling from MLB.
