Expos bid adieu to Montreal
The Montreal Expos played their last home game at Olympics Stadium yesterday, losing 9-1 to the Florida Marlins. Over 30,000 fans showed up for the last game but many people would agree that it was too little, too late. One of the reasons the Expos have floundered over the last few years has been the lack of fan support in Montreal. For example, in their second last game ever in the city only 5000 people showed up. Its a real shame that Canada's original baseball team will be moving to Washington, DC and there is more than enough blame to go around. Montreal has proved to be somewhat of a sports town, supporting the Montreal Canadians of the NHL and Alouettes of the CFL.
