Baseball unveils a plan to combat substance abuse

Major League Baseball took a step in the right direction as it finally announced a substance abuse/steroid use policy. In a nutshell, we are going to see more testing and stiffer penalties for those who are caught. The major points include:

- Random testing, including in the off-season.
- Banned substance list to mirror that of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
- First time offenders would receive the 10 day suspension.
- A second positive test would yield a 30 day suspension.
- A third would result in a 60 day banishment.
- A fourth positive test would result in a one year suspension from MLB.
